Premium Zisha Clay from Yixing
Zisha clay, originating from Yixing in Jiangsu, China, boasts a history spanning over a thousand years. Extracted from deep underground mineral veins, it takes centuries to form, making it exceptionally precious. This clay possesses remarkable breathability and heat retention properties, allowing the tea to maintain its original aroma while enhancing its richness and smoothness.
Each of our teapots, shaped by master artisans, becomes a one-of-a-kind work of art. More than just a functional tea vessel, it symbolizes status and refined taste, embodying the rich cultural heritage and artistic value of China.
Traditional Wood Firing from 600 Years Ago
The Dragon Kiln
Since the 1970s, gas and electric kilns have steadily replaced dragon kilns with a history of more than 600 years due to their convenience.
However, a dedicated group of artisans remains deeply passionate about traditional wood-fired craftsmanship. The kiln master explains that after firing clay at temperatures reaching thousands of degrees, only a handful of flawless pieces may emerge from a batch of 1,000—but this is the essence of art.
The dragon kiln on the left is the one we use to fire Yixing teapots, and it is among the few large dragon kilns still in operation in Yixing, China. We take great pride in this heritage.
Forged by Fire, Perfected by Time
The Timeless Art
The creation of a Yixing teapot is a story of fire and earth, forged through the intense heat of 1000°C, resulting in an extraordinary masterpiece. This high-temperature firing process transforms the teapot into something remarkably durable, resistant to cracking, and able to retain its original color through the passage of time.
What’s even more special is its resilience against scalding hot water, remaining unscathed and unfazed no matter how boiling the tea is. As the years go by, the teapot gains a unique patina and charm, evolving into a beautiful tale of tea and time.
